Lucie Chamberlain brings extensive stove-industry knowledge, professional chimney sweep training and practical experience to one of London’s oldest trades.
As part of the H Firkins & Sons team, Lucie carries out chimney sweeping and specialist inspections across London, backed by the experience and working standards of a family chimney sweeping business established in 1860.
If you would particularly like Lucie to attend your appointment, mention her name when you make your booking.
From stoves to chimney sweeping
Lucie’s technical knowledge began before she became a professional chimney sweep.
She spent around nine years working with stoves and fireplaces at Pure Stoves & Fireplaces in Hitchin, gaining practical knowledge of appliances, flue systems, liners, installations and fault finding.
That experience gives her a useful perspective when inspecting a fireplace or stove. Chimney sweeping is not simply about removing soot: the appliance, flue, ventilation and chimney all need to work together as a system.
Professional chimney sweep training
Lucie has undertaken professional chimney sweep training through the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps, together with further training relating to stoves, servicing and chimney systems.
Her professional development has also included HETAS training and practical site experience with H Firkins & Sons.
Trained to the Firkins standard
Professional qualifications provide the technical foundation, but joining H Firkins & Sons also means learning the working standards developed through generations of the Firkins family.
Lucie has received practical site training with Josh and Graham Firkins, including the challenges presented by London’s mixture of period properties, complex chimney stacks, modern stoves and older flue systems.
The aim is the same for every appointment: a thorough sweep or inspection, a clean working area and straightforward advice about anything that requires further attention.

A female chimney sweep in London
Chimney sweeping has historically been a heavily male-dominated trade, but there is no reason it should remain so.
Lucie’s combination of professional chimney sweeping and a strong technical background in stoves and heating appliances brings useful additional expertise to the Firkins team.
For some customers, particularly those who specifically prefer a female tradesperson visiting their home, being able to request Lucie is also valuable.
Featured on BBC Radio London
Lucie has spoken publicly about her work and her experience as a woman in the chimney sweeping trade, including an appearance on BBC Radio London with Eddie Nestor.
